Working Dogs

Happy Funny Bone Monday! Today is Labor Day, a day, in the US, to celebrate the working man and woman, as well as working dogs! I appreciate each and every one of you who make sure that my electricity stays on, the water comes from the tap, the gasoline makes it to my local QuikTrip before being pumped into my car. I appreciate the scientists and engineers who make things happen, as well as the people with callused hands who dig the ditches which keep the roads from flooding every time it rains. I also appreciate my very own Hunny, whose labor keeps a roof over our head and food on our table.

But today we’re going to celebrate working dogs, the breeds and mutts which keep farms and cities safe and running smoothly. Let’s begin with sheep dog trials.

Hmm. Something was wrong with that video. Those were working sheep. Everyone knows that sheep don’t work. Let’s try again.

Hmm. Looks like working dogs are really working sheep. But! Our armed forces and their dogs can always be counted on to work hard with great results. Check out these fascinating facts about military working dogs.

Let’s be the people that our pets deserve. I like that. This last video is inspirational. Makes me want to start training Chewy. If he could at least pick up his own toys and bones, it would make a huge difference in my living room.

I’ll tell you one sector of society that doesn’t work, and that’s cats. Our Bosco proves it every day. The lazy bum.

Coffee for cats
Bosco would rather lay around the table and drink coffee than get any real work done. He’s such a load.

Winner

Cats. Dogs. People. I know that you’re working hard every day. How do I know that? If you read this blog, chances are high that you have a dog. If you have a dog, you work hard to make sure that it’s cared for. See? Deductive reasoning at its finest. And I’ll tell you one hard working woman – the winner of the Jones Natural Chews Bully Basted Ch’Earz giveaway! Let’s all give a big congratulations to …

Mrs. Molly Pitcher!

Mrs. Molly did one very important thing – she commented on the blog post which hosted the giveaway. A different winner was originally randomly chosen, but when I looked for a comment, there was none! That’s the one mandatory entry event, pup lovers! So congratulations to Mrs. Molly Pitcher!

Have a happy Labor Day, everyone! And pick up some Jones Natural Chews for your hard working dog. It’ll make your dog smile. Promise.

Spreading the good chews …

  1. Those Border Collies were really shown whose boss. Cute! Love all the working dogs. That spaniel sure looks happy about doing all the housework. πŸ™‚ The dogs and babies video was super cute. I loved the doggie that taught the baby to roll over. My cousin recently posted a cute video on FB of her daughter playing fetch with their Border Collie, Annie. Cute!
