Lamb Shank Bone from Jones

PTSD Dogs and Veterans

A happy Veteran’s Day, y’all. So many of my friends are veterans, and I’ve seen how much their dogs have been a help to them. I love this first video story of the veteran with PTSD and his service dog.

We all know that dogs can be therapeutic, that they’re antidepressants with fur, us as dog people. I wish that message was wider spread. PTSD is an evil thing, and I love that dogs help remedy that, or alert their best friends to oncoming incidents. This next video has been around for a bit, but it’s powerful.

This next is a long video, so skip if time is an issue, but definitely worth coming back for and spending some time watching. This veteran is an amazing human being. I’m so grateful for his service, as well as for his  service dog.

“You should be proud of who you are. You should be proud of what you’ve done. … It’s okay to ask for help.” I love that this man, who has saved so many and done an amazing service to his country, has been saved by a dog. One last beautiful tail of love?

To all the veterans and their families, both that I know and don’t know, my undying gratitude for your sacrifice for me, for your country. Thank you. And the rest of you? Thank a vet, will ya?

On a lighter note, we have a winner in the Jones Natural Chews bone giveaway. The random number generator chose the Sand Spring Chesapeakes for the win! Congratulations JoAnn, Nellie, Gambler and Glory. MK – no bones for you!

Until I write again …

  1. You’re right, Dogs can be such a help to people struggling with PTSD! There’s an organization in our town that matches dogs who are looking for their forever home with veterans with PTSD and then train the dogs as service dogs for them, it’s wonderful!

    Wags to all,

    Your pal Snoopy 🙂
