You and Your Dog – Get Off Your Butt!

Move Your Mutt-a-Thon

First! PetsMove and Slim Doggy are hosting a Move Your Mutt-a-Thon! It starts January first. No pressure. I know a lot of you are already good about walking your dogs, getting the exercise that both of you need. But if you’re more like me, you need this swift kick in the butt to get off the couch and get moving! Jones Natural Chews is a sponsor, so I HAVE to get moving for this event. The dogs will love me for it. And I don’t know about you, but I’ve had WAY too many pierogi and kielbasa, so I need the Move Your Mutt-a-Thon! Who’s with me?! If you have qualms about getting your mutt and your butt out of the house in January, pop over to Pamela’s post at Something Wagging This Way Comes today for some great ideas and motivation to keep you and your dog in motion. And here I was thinking of teaching my dogs Sudoku …

Second! I had the bestest visitors last night! Y’all know Dawn at Pet Auto Safety Blog? American Dog Blog? Maya and Pierson’s mom? Here, let me show you:

Dog bloggers meet
*SQUEEE* It’s Dawn! In my house!!! With her dogs!

I KNOW!! How exciting is that?!? And she brought two of my favorite dogs! Pierson!

Intense gaze from an Aussie mix
Pierson is not making eye contact. He’s locked on to Bosco the cat, who is laying on a chair across the room, taunting him.

And Maya!

A dog with a good bone from Jones
Maya wouldn’t make eye contact either. She found one of the many half chewed bones laying around the house and gnawed herself silly. Don’t worry – we sent the dogs home with bones of their own.

What fun! It was a second evening of sauerkraut soup, pierogi and kielbasa – oh good heavens, I’m going to need this Move Your Mutt-a-Thon! And Dawn brought her adorable husband, who was gracious enough to eat my food without complaint. 🙂 We thoroughly enjoyed their company.

See? You come through Tulsa and I’ll feed you and treat your dog with all natural, grown and made in the USA treats. Well? What are you waiting for? Stay long enough and we might even walk the dogs. Get off your butt! Come visit already!

Let’s answer a question or two for Follow Up Friday, a blog hop hosted by Jodi at Heart Like a Dog. Emma the GBGV asks, concerning Monday’s dog selfie videos:
Who needs a selfie when I have a mom that constantly snaps my face?
Emma, your mama does an AMAZING job taking your pictures. Amazing. You don’t need selfies. And you sure don’t need to make a duck face. Though it might be kinda cute to see you try.

Jodi, at Heart Like a Dog, asked a question, but I must give you context prior to the question. My bestie left this comment last Friday:
Mine eyes didst betray me when I feasted upon the missives of my prize, for never a sweeter word was uttered. The true reward, your highness, is that you, who hast all the royal makings of a Queen, doth accept my foppish ways and welcome my presence. I am but a lowly servant, ever obsequious and humbled by your friendship. O, I am Fortune’s Fool! My musings have drawn the attention of my master who harkens from the bowels of my prison. I needs make haste and return to the task upon which I set my sights this morning. With cruel tears, I must part from thee, my cherished friend. I bid you farewell and keep mine eyes and hopes set on future missives of all things canine.
Heather loves Shakespeare. Can you tell? And her master is her cruel sister. Shh! Don’t tell her sister that she took a break from work to read my blog. Jodi’s question was this:
Aren’t best friends awesome?
Yes. Yes they are. 🙂

That’s all the time we have, boys and girls!

Until I write again …

  1. Well, Flea, it’s easier to walk the dog in some parts of the country–Illinois is COOOOOOOLD!!! My husband (bless his heart!) gets up early in the morning and takes our Rocky for a walk. We used to be able to put him in the back fenced-in yard and let him run around until it was time to come in. Now, we live in a condo and have to take him for a walk on a leash. Brrrrr! Maybe I’ll take my turn at it in the warmer months. But, then, I still have to get up real early! Probably not going to happen.

  2. Hey Flea – thanks for writing about our Mutt-a-Thon and so glad you are going to attend! It will be tons of fun, we promise. BTW Jack & Maggie got some of those trachea rings you recommended…loved them…gone already, before I could even get a picture to share. I’ll get more and post a pic for you.

  4. It is such a good reminder for those of us who live in winter climates. It is easy to get a little lazy when the weather gets cold. Of course there have been a few days this December that have been too cold for walks [-15 F we don’t go far as I can’t carry them back]. We are going to try and walk more!

  5. Both my husband and I absolutely loved dinner at your house! We especially loved the sauerkraut soup. The pierogi and kielbasa were delicious too, but that soup was fantastic. Thank you for sending me a link to the recipe. I will definitely be giving it a try.

I loved meeting your clan. Everyone in your family was so nice and gracious! Your kids are awesome. Flash and Patches were too cute. Bosco was a sweetie. I wish I had gotten there earlier in the day so I could have gotten to know Jimmy better. Oh well, next time! :0)

We just got home from our trip from Texas, through Oklahoma, and to Kansas. We’re taking it easy this weekend. I will blog about our visit next week.

    Thanks again, Flea!!! ❤•.✿.•❤

  6. Now I feel even more guilty since it is never THAT cold in Louisiana. SO no excuses, we are off our butts and walking. My knees won’t allow me to run but walking is a step in the right direction…right? : )

  7. Ha ha ha! Best friends ARE awesome, especially when they’re clever and witty!

The girls and I are doing the Idita Walk again this year, but it doesn’t start until February 1, so we’ll be in on the Move Your Mutt A Thon, too. Actually, we start the year out with a hike to the frozen waterfalls every year to get things off on the right foot, and we have a few new gadgets to help us this year, too.
